The Next (and soon to be final) President of the United States; Donald Trump
Let’s ask the question everyone is thinking: Who let the orange with the unconvincing wig into the Presidential election?
Donald Trump. The multi-millionaire republican that decided he’d go for gold and run for President. During his campaign he’s said all sorts of ludicrous things, and made plentiful inflammatory and down-right slanderous remarks towards a huge range of people; Mexicans, Muslims, the Chinese, even the current President; Barrack Obama. By the end of the election, the list of Trump offendees will be long enough to stretch to China. There are very few people Trump hasn’t offended in some shape or form. It is baffling how people can support this man: His policies are composed of “Building a wall!” and replacing Obamacare with “Something fantastic!” What a way to spur the American public with empty words. But that’s okay! He’ll stop illegal immigrants, and provide Americans with a better future if we really believe hard enough- is this the American Dream incarnate?
When politics and government is discussed, powerful, educated people come to mind: those who have spent years of learning how to compete effectively in the world of politics. Trump has no political training. Isn’t that shocking? Millions- which despite Donald’s views on money, is no small amount- of people seem to believe this is a good thing. It is not. Is it wise to let a country, especially a large and rather important country like America, be run by someone that has no idea what he’s doing? America is certainly scraping the barrel with Presidents nowadays.
It is abundantly clear Trump is a completely out of his league in terms of experience when compared to other Presidential candidates: For example, Hillary Clinton has spent decades in political scenarios, and earned a law degree from Yale University. She was first lady for years, and also became a U.S Senator and Secretary of State. Senators represent their state's interest in the laws, and the Secretary of the state is one of the President’s advisers; they mainly deal with foreign matters, and travel worldwide to meet with world leaders, both of which are clearly vital experiences to assist potential presidency. Similarly, Bernie Sanders earned his degree in political science. He was the mayor of Burlington, Vermont in the 1980’s. Like Clinton, Sanders is a U.S Senator, and was part of the U.S House of Representatives who work alongside Senators to vote on and pass laws for all of America. In contrast, Trump only gained a mere degree in economics that, while serving beneficial in more concurrent professions, is useless in the profession of politics. It’s utterly ridiculous that Trump has a probable chance of being the next President with such a lack of political knowledge and experience.

Adrian The Blind
By Maxine Campbell
on the shores of old iona.
a young boy has been born.
though he seemed fine to begin.
his sight it has been torn.
but weep not for his lake of eyes.
for in time everyone will find.
that he'd become a blessing.
the monk Adrian the blind.
once he'd finished training.
learned the bible off by heart.
he sailed away to the mainland.
conversions about to start.
though he was unable to see.
this did not impede his goal.
as if the lord acted as his eyes.
and Jesus was in his soul.
walking for many miles.
across dirt and rocks and grass.
there were many occasions for him.
to show the miracles amassed.
healing the sick along the roads.
people began to know his name.
but after one remarkable event.
it would never be the same.
in a town a woman old and poor.
went door to door.
"please help me and my dying son".
but the people would only ignore.
until Adrian came up to her.
a twinkle in his fogy eye.
"take me to you son,.
the lord surly won't let him die".
upon arriving at the house.
it was a sight to bear.
a sickly man lay on the bed.
his young siblings could only stare.
"my husband and my eldest twins.
were sent to war to die.
if my sick son will not waken.
we have no chance to survive".
Adrian prepared his mind.
for speaking to the lord.
his hand upon the young mans heart.
as to the churches accord.
"please father, lord and spirit.
have mercy on this child.
if he cannot feed his family.
the bodies will only pile".
as if like that old magic.
he opened up his eyes.
the sicking had be banished.
no one believed it, he was alive.
he worked and kept his family.
away from winters horrid strife.
the people were in aw as this.
he brought a man back to life.
for years and years he traveled.
up and down all the Scottish lands.
spreading word of the gospel.
from the highlands to the sands.
but a man lives not forever.
he was feeling his old age.
Adrian returned to iona.
to live out his final days.
there under the moonlight.
after the final prayer.
everyone gathered to see him.
sense of death as in the air.
"i may not have seen anything.
but black and dreadful night.
but i hope that with gods mercy.
in death i'll see the light".
although his body is down under.
his soul has risen high.
they prayed that he may enter.
to gods kingdom in the sky.
the man who couldn't see.
but treated everything like the lord.
from calm and peaceful drifting.
to violence and the sword.
on the shores of old iona.
