The Next (and soon to be final) President of the United States; Donald Trump
Let’s ask the question everyone is thinking: Who let the orange with the unconvincing wig into the Presidential election?
Donald Trump. The multi-millionaire republican that decided he’d go for gold and run for President. During his campaign he’s said all sorts of ludicrous things, and made plentiful inflammatory and down-right slanderous remarks towards a huge range of people; Mexicans, Muslims, the Chinese, even the current President; Barrack Obama. By the end of the election, the list of Trump offendees will be long enough to stretch to China. There are very few people Trump hasn’t offended in some shape or form. It is baffling how people can support this man: His policies are composed of “Building a wall!” and replacing Obamacare with “Something fantastic!” What a way to spur the American public with empty words. But that’s okay! He’ll stop illegal immigrants, and provide Americans with a better future if we really believe hard enough- is this the American Dream incarnate?
When politics and government is discussed, powerful, educated people come to mind: those who have spent years of learning how to compete effectively in the world of politics. Trump has no political training. Isn’t that shocking? Millions- which despite Donald’s views on money, is no small amount- of people seem to believe this is a good thing. It is not. Is it wise to let a country, especially a large and rather important country like America, be run by someone that has no idea what he’s doing? America is certainly scraping the barrel with Presidents nowadays.
It is abundantly clear Trump is a completely out of his league in terms of experience when compared to other Presidential candidates: For example, Hillary Clinton has spent decades in political scenarios, and earned a law degree from Yale University. She was first lady for years, and also became a U.S Senator and Secretary of State. Senators represent their state's interest in the laws, and the Secretary of the state is one of the President’s advisers; they mainly deal with foreign matters, and travel worldwide to meet with world leaders, both of which are clearly vital experiences to assist potential presidency. Similarly, Bernie Sanders earned his degree in political science. He was the mayor of Burlington, Vermont in the 1980’s. Like Clinton, Sanders is a U.S Senator, and was part of the U.S House of Representatives who work alongside Senators to vote on and pass laws for all of America. In contrast, Trump only gained a mere degree in economics that, while serving beneficial in more concurrent professions, is useless in the profession of politics. It’s utterly ridiculous that Trump has a probable chance of being the next President with such a lack of political knowledge and experience.
When Trump was asked "What are the top three functions of the United States government?" He didn’t have a clue what to answer. Trump was stumped. He managed to reply with one of the three; National Security (defence and war). Which is great; if you’re hoping for a nuclear apocalypse this summer. The neglected functions being State (encouraging peacefulness inside and outside of the country), and Treasury (trying to keep America afloat financially- notably the only function Trump is slightly educated in), yet he couldn’t comment. Perhaps all that fake tan is beginning to obstruct what limited range of knowledge Trump does possess. With such political ignorance on display his perseverant progress in campaign is extremely disturbing.
Let us consider the frightening situations which call for extensive knowledge of the US defence system, or the laws of the USA trading system? What would Trump do? Avoid the question, and offend someone? Divert? Well, this can only go tremendously… What happens when an inevitable meeting between county leaders from across the world needs to occur? Anyone that has seen Trump’s behaviour can foresee Mr. Trump storming into the conference, making preposterous demands, undoubtedly thought up in his elitist fantasy land, then throwing a tantrum when his requests are, unsurprisingly, denied. Trump’s behaviour accurately mimics a stroppy toddler. “FIRST CHILD PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!” is certainly a dreaded headline come November. Perhaps his supporters have failed to read the small-print truth of Trump’s character.
His brain-washed, naïve supporters’ cry; “He’s a good business man! He’s made billions!” Granted, he has made a lot of money, greatly aided through help from his father’s cash. Money makes money after all. Not to mention his corporations have gone bankrupt lord knows how many times, primarily due to his habits of overspending and general bad decision making. Trump’s wealth cannot be superimposed on America. People that use Trump’s financial “success” as a reason to support his campaign do not seem to understand that business and politics are topics that do not correlate seamlessly. They are very much different topics. Do Americans really want to plummet their country further into the abysmal, never-ending pit of debt? Letting Trump take control is undoubtedly a good way to do it. No wonder his supporters are widely regarded as ‘deplorable’.
Perhaps, his most well-known quote; “It has not been easy for me…My father gave me a small loan of a million dollars.” epitomises his character. Yes! Because everyone has a million dollars lying around; it’s like spare change. Most people have the same reaction; they wonder how anyone in their right mind could view a million dollars as a small sum of money. This is because the majority of the public do not come from extremely upper class elitist families, and actually work hard to earn a living. Unlike Trump, who had it handed to him on a silver platter. Delivered by the family helicopter, no doubt.
When things go sour, which is profusely whenever Trump is involved, dignified discussions become transformed into insulting mannerisms specifically uttered with the intention to irritate or slander those of who his opinions clash with. Whether it be fellow Presidential candidates, members of the public, or popular celebrities. Trump doesn’t hold back in his fits of unprofessional rage. Bursting out with outrageous comments, while being completely oblivious to the consequences is one (and possibly the only) of Trump’s specialties. His lack of any filter makes Trump fascinating to watch. However, many people seem to think it is a great thing that Trump decides to speak his mind. I doubt they’d be so happy if said supporters were on the rear end of these insults. There is a clear cut difference between speaking your mind in a socially acceptable manner, and speaking your mind in a completely rude and unnecessary fashion: Mr. Trump completely oversteps the line.
Many of Trump’s policies are composed of staggeringly racist views; these include proposing to ban Muslims from coming to America, and build the famous “wall” because Mexican immigrants are “bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists”: Strong words from the man himself. He even plans to manipulate Mexico into paying for his revolutionary wall which is a whole new level of absurdity. Here society is, trying to bring the world into a friendlier, accepting stance on human differences such as nationality and sexual orientation. Then Trump storms in and takes everybody two steps backwards. America shouldn’t be supporting this man. His speeches often blatantly disregard the values and dignity of certain human beings owing to completely irrelevant reasons, such as skin colour and nationality. Someone who is actively xenophobic in their speeches is not someone who should be endorsed as a feasible Presidential candidate, moreover, when he additionally lacks fundamental moral values such as racial equality, equity of opportunity, and let’s not forget; a decent hair product. Surely these are reasons enough for Trump to be booted out of the election and his supporters offered a session of psychoanalysis?
Donald Trump is an all-round unsuitable candidate. He cares little for opinions that are not his own, and has extremely shocking moral values. He cannot control his temper, and appears to have fun slurring insults left right and centre at whoever he chooses. As if that wasn’t enough he’s ignorant enough to think his hairpiece is fooling anyone. Americans need to wake up and realise Trump is a shameful disgrace to their country. Let’s “Make America Great Again”, and not vote for Donald Trump. I implore you; let’s leave Trump and his shocking immaturity in the dust of the election.
